Richard Nielson received his B.A. from Northern Kentucky University in 1989, and his J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at NKU in 1993. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and Tennessee. He is admitted to practice before the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the US District and Bankruptcy Courts in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia.
Upon graduating from law school Mr. Nielson founded the firm of Nielson & Sherry, PSC. From 1993 to 2017 the firm grew to become one of the leading creditor’s rights firms in Kentucky. In early 2017, the firm made the strategic decision to merge with Reimer Law Co., based in Solon, Ohio. In April of 2025, the firm made the strategic decision to join the firm of Tiffany & Bosco, P.A., based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. Nielson is the co-managing shareholder for Tiffany & Bosco’s offices in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Mr. Nielson & Mr. Sherry continue to own and operate Agility Closing & Title Services, Inc., which provides real estate title and closing services throughout Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Tennessee.
Mr. Nielson is a frequent panelist and speaker at national and regional industry conferences. Throughout his career he has been an author of several scholarly articles in leading industry publications on compliance issues, eviction law, and manufactured home issues facing the default industry.
Mr. Nielson presently serves on the Board of Directors for the USFN. He is chair of the USFN Membership Committee and is an active member of the USFN Finance Committee. He previously served as a member of the USFN Publication Committee. The USFN is the industry’s premier trade organization for attorneys serving the creditor’s rights community.
Mr. Nielson was a founding member of the Advisory Counsel for the Legal League 100, a national educational and trade organization devoted to the default services and real estate industries. He also actively participates in other trade organizations including the ALFN, MBA, ALTA, KYLTA, and the Louisville and Northern Kentucky bar associations.
Mr. Nielson lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife. He has three grown children and two dogs. He is an avid sports fan and long-time supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cincinnati Reds, and the NKU Norse. As a Kentuckian he is of course a fan of horse racing and bourbon.
