Marissa Sternberg is an attorney whose practice focuses on probate, trust administration, elder law, and trust and estate litigation. She works closely with personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, and families to navigate the legal and practical challenges that arise during the administration of estates and trusts, providing thoughtful guidance through every stage of the process.
Prior to focusing her practice on post-death administration and litigation, Marissa’s practice also included estate planning, giving her a well-rounded understanding of how estate plans are created, implemented, and administered. That experience provides valuable perspective in her current practice, allowing her to anticipate issues, resolve disputes efficiently, and help clients carry out the intentions of those who created their estate plan.
During law school Marissa served as a student attorney for the Janet R. Spragens Federal Tax Clinic, where she represented low-income taxpayers before the United States Tax Court. She also worked as a law clerk for her Wills, Trusts, and Estates professor, gaining valuable experience in trusts and estates law, which helped to strengthen the foundation for her practice.
Born and raised in Phoenix, Marissa returned home after law school to begin her legal career and serve the community she has long called home. In addition to her legal practice, she mentors prospective law students and fellow alumni of American University Washington College of Law as they prepare for the bar examination. With a strong foundation in ethical reasoning, local insight, and real-world experience, Marissa brings empathy, precision, and integrity to every client relationship.
Outside of her practice, Marissa enjoys cooking and traveling with her husband, spending time outdoors with their golden retriever, and getting lost in a good book.
