Government RelationsBeing in business inevitably requires working with government. Our firm has the
experience and relationships necessary to effectively work with both career public
servants and elected officials at the city, state, county, and federal levels. We also
deal with a variety of administrative and regulatory bodies closely affecting the business
of our clients. A substantial part of our firm's government relations work involves
zoning and other land use issues affecting real property. But the need for government
relations services on the part of land owners frequently goes beyond zoning and may
involve such areas as flood plain modifications, signage approvals, infrastructure
planning and location, and obtaining permits and approvals from such government bodies
as the Corps of Engineers, State Historic Preservation Office, State Land Department,
and even engineering approvals from city engineering departments.
Our experience includes initiating and monitoring legislation at the state legislature
to ensure that legislation affecting, often critically, the vitality of a business is passed
in acceptable form, or is even prevented.
