BIOGRAPHY

May Lu is an Associate Attorney serving the transactional needs of businesses and their owners. May assists clients with business formation, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and other business agreements.  She also provides guidance to businesses concerning disputes among owners and related fiduciary duties.  In addition to May’s transaction services, she assists in the representation of receivers for businesses in financial distress and secured creditors in bankruptcy and forcible detainer actions.

May’s law school achievements resulted in several important honors and opportunities for her professional development.  Upon graduation from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, May served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Lawrence F. Winthrop, of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One.  While in law school, May was an Intern Prosecutor for the Pima County Attorney’s Office and a Law Clerk for the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County.  May was also a Managing Editor of the Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law.  May authored the article: "The New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards:  Analysis of the Seven Defenses to Oppose Enforcement in the United States and England, 23 Ariz. J. Int’l & Comp. L. 747 (Fall 2006)."

Prior to law school, May’s interest in assisting businesses motivated her to attend Arizona State University and its Barrett Honors College on a National Merit Scholarship to study economics, international business, and Spanish.

May’s commitment to giving back to the community includes, since 2000, her involvement in coaching and mentoring Chaparral High School’s Mock Trial team.  In addition, as a member of the Lorna Lockwood Inn of Court, May meets monthly with other legal professionals to promote legal ethics and professionalism amongst attorneys.
